Four-Legged
The equipment necessary for hiking with dogs varies a lot depending on the dog specifically, the type of hiking you’re doing, and the climate and weather conditions you’re hiking in. Lucy is a short haired American Staffordshire Terrier who overheats quickly in hot, humid conditions and also gets chilly in the fridged blizzards of northern NH. After lots of trial and error and a seemingly crazy amount of gear, we’ve finally discovered the perfect system that lets us hike in any condition. Check out our gear list so that you can figure out your dog’s system without all of the unnecessary equipment!
Lucy's Gear List
This post is all about our favorite dog gear! In summer conditions the list is pretty short and simple. Lucy has tried lots of different gear and we’ve learned what’s the best so you don’t have to. What equipment we bring depends on the length, terrain, elevation gain, and weather conditions. We’ve got recommendations for lots of different situations and hikes!

We’ve tried many different coats, boots, and other winter gear and we’ve finally found a system that is perfect for us and that would work for most hiking dogs. Check out this post for our favorites!
